to Turkey
-

-
Evaluation of the meeting.
These are the conclusions and agreements
according to each meeting:
I.
COMENIUS MEETING
1.
All the associated partners agree that our Comenius project: “Knowing
the past to understand the present” is fully integrated in the curriculum of
our schools and educational system curriculum.
2.
We revised all the programmed activities in the application form and we
agree with all of them. However, we also agree that every school can add more
activities concerning the project according the necessities of their school.
3.
Apart from the delay of the initial meeting, due to the best
possibilities for all schools implied, we all agree in the original calendar of
activities and mobility. It was proposed the date of visit and mobility of
students for Turkey and Sweden Comenius meeting, according to the following
calendar:
-
TURKEY: From 18th to
24th MARCH
-
SWEDEN: From 27th May
to 2nd June
4.
Respecting communications, we all agree in the following aspects.
·
The official communication about the project will be by e-mail through the
coordinators of the project.
·
Apart from that, it will be
created a gmail group among the participant teachers. The Turkish partner will
be in charge of it.
·
It will also be created a facebook group. The Turkish partner will be in
charge of it.
·
We will also create an e-mail addresses data among our students to
communicate among them.
·
We will also use video conference as a way of communication after our
students have met in the second Comenius meeting.
II.
COMENIUS MEETING
With
regards student mobility, we all agreed each partner school will carry out the
mobility to each associated country with 4 students and 2 teachers, according
the money we have been assigned in the project.
However, it was discussed the
possibility to increase the number of students in the mobility in the case they
could be lodged in a family house. This, obviously, would reduce expenses in
every student and would make possible to extend the number of students. In the
case of Romania and Spain, it is possible to find families to lodge the
students. In the case of Turkey, the school needs some time to consider the
idea. The Swedish partner considered it was quite difficult the lodging in
families due to the different conditions of their students (many students to
lodge and families houses are usually small flats).
On the other hand, we all agreed that
our intermediate Comenius report will be elaborated in our meeting in Sweden,
in May.
We all agreed of the diffusion of the
project, according to the guide lines reflected in the application form.
The Spanish partner introduced the LOGO
of the Comenius project: “Knowing the past to understand the present”. It was
elaborated by the IES Valle de Aller teacher from the Arts Department, Mrs.
Marta Rodriguez. After the presentation and the explanations about the
elaborations of it, all the associated schools accepted it as the logo of the
project.
In this session, it was also created the
blog of the Comenius project. It was decided the name of the blog: KPUP (Knowing
the past to understand the present).
IES Valle de Aller
will be in charge of this official blog of the project, and all the activities,
reports, and materials will be reflected on it, from all the partner schools.
We agreed that official language will be English, but we also contribute to the
blog in our own languages, promoting the idea of understanding our customs and
traditions. The Swedish partner, due to the special circumstances of the
students (most of the immigrant) will only write their report in English.
The creation of an official project blog
(where all the information will be included) doesn´t mean that each school
could create their own blogs in their schools.
III. COMENIUS MEETING
The four Comenius associated
school introduced their countries and schools to the educative community of IES
Valle de Aller. In the case of students it was focused in students aged: from
14 to 16 years old.
IV. COMENIUS MEETING
We
all agree in the design of activities of students before the next mobility. We
are all going to work in a general vision of each country History, but them we
are to focus our attention in the History of the country we are going to visit
each time. In this case Turkey. The teachers of each visiting countries are
going to give us a guideline of the most important things to learn about their
History to be used in our lessons of History with our students participating in
the project.
At
the same time, the students of every partner school will also work on a
specific topic or theme about their History to present it in the guest country
partner school.
In
general, all the partner schools prefer to have a general vision of History of
the whole country, with no distinctions among different areas or regions. In
the case of Spain, the school would prefer to focus just on the region of
Asturias, but they will try to adapt, apart from Asturias, to a general vision
of Spanish History.
The
activities that will be designed to prepare the visit are: Project songs,
Language teams, History lessons, Debates discussion on History, Prepare common
rules on debates, Common phrase dictionary of all common languages, Student
blogs.
It
is also agreed to develop a Project Guide in which all the activities we make
are reflected. The official blog is a good tool to do that.
Romania
partners express their wish to move the mobility to their school to October
2013, instead of November. That was accepted by all the associated partners.
It
was also considered as an important point in the project to reflect the
differences between past and present in each associated country, focus on
comparison of all possible historical elements, including social aspects.
Finally,
we are agreed in the criteria to choose students for the mobility to each
associated school:
-
Level of English
-
Work on History
-
Motivation on the project
The
average of age of the candidates will vary between 15 to 17 years old. The
Sweden partner school could increase the age until 18, depending of the special
circumstances of some students.
It
was given a certificate for all participants in the meeting according to the
meeting calendar.
It
was also made an evaluation of this initial meeting in Spain from the part of
the participants

KPUP, 2nd Comenius Meeting in SAMANDIRA TEKNIK VE ENDÜSTRI MESLEK LISESI, Istanbul, Turkey 18th – 24th March, 2013
The Romanian Team of Nine Students and Three Teachers
in Istanbul, Turkey, 2nd Comenius
Meeting 18th – 24th March, 2013
Our project “Knowing the Past to Understand the Present”
(2012-2104), is funded by the European Union, through the Comenius Programme
for school education, Lifelong Learning Programme.
Main Aims of the Istanbul Meeting:
1. To explore the development of the teaching of History
2. To explore how History is, at once, different and
shared by the associated schools /countries and how history affects cultural
outlook and cultural identity
3. To discover how different cultural heritage can
enhance the learning of history
4. To look at the way History can teach pupils (aged: 14
to 18) about understanding the modern world and how this can influence the
future
5. To boost and to encourage communication in English.
6. To encourage the feeling of European citizenship,
promoting tolerance, and respect to other cultures and countries.
7. To promote the development of contents using ICT
(Information and Communication Technology)
Our meeting in Istanbul
had a communicative purpose, seeking to understand how people from different
countries and cultures act, communicate and perceive the world around them. Our
Istanbul
activities included:
n
Visit of school and learning
about the educational system.
n
Exhibition of drawings,
paintings, stories, poems, role plays, life style compositions from the different
schools partners.
n
Organization of workshops on
historical discoveries, social and cultural issues
n
Students speeches on their own
discoveries about History and distinction of national/regional, cultural
affinities and differences of participating schools.
n
Intermediate evaluation of the
development of the project.
n
Elaboration of a power point of the visit.
All the partners in this Comenius project, from Sweden, Lithuania,
Spain, Turkey and Romania, adopted a historical,
cultural and social approach in presenting their countries, region and school.
The students prepared speeches, presentations, songs and plays reflecting
traditions, customs, national identity and specific national features. Lithuania and Romania
also came with a comparison between past and present events in the history of
the Turkish - Lithuanian and respectively Turkish – Romanian relations.
All
participating schools took part in the mobility with enthusiasm and showed
competence in their research in the field of their own history and culture as
well as in the history of the other countries represented in the partnership,
an indicator that historical relevance, cultural heritage, and present
solutions have been the core of their study.
The
nine Romanian students accommodated in host families enjoyed the Turkish homes
and became good friends with the Turkish students and teachers, feeling sorry
to leave when the time came for departure. The Romanian teachers were also
pleased with the accommodation in the hotel where they received very good
treatment.
Both
students and teachers from Romania
enjoyed very much the company of their partners from Sweden,
Turkey, Lithuania and Spain. The programme of the school
activities and of the visits was efficient; the meetings were interesting and useful.
The
fruits of our cooperation are the joy of befriending new people and the new
learned things that will help us to see our own culture with critical eyes.
Our Istanbul
stay included visits to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Seraglio, and the
Grand Bazaar. The mosques, the
palaces, the museums, the trips, the Bosporus tours etc were all full of
delight and joy. We were enchanted to learn about so many cultural things in Turkey.
The Turkish people are very hospitable and friendly. We really had a
very good time and I think all our partners felt excellent during our
activities and visits.
Our conclusion is that we learned a lot about the Turkish
culture and traditions through direct experience and observation but also
through an exchange of opinions and reflections on different social, cultural
and historical aspects. Through the discussion and the exchange of our Istanbul experiences among the students and the teachers
from the five different schools and other people related to education in the
idea of promoting cultural awareness, we consider that we achieved the aims of
the Istanbul meeting.
Diseminare - Intalnirea din Turcia, 18- 24 martie, 2013
Proiectul scolar multilateral
Comenius, KPUP - “Knowing the Past to Understand the Present” (“Sa cunoastem
(SPANIA), 2. SAMANDIRA TEKNIK VE ENDÜSTRI MESLEK LISESI (TURCIA), 3. VILNIUS RAJONO AVIZIENU VIDURINE
MOYKLA (LITUANIA) 4. ROSS TENSA GYMNASIUM (SUEDIA), intrucat proiectul reprezinta un considerabil
ajutor in consolidarea invatarii limbii engleze si istoriei, in experimentarea
lucrului in echipa si in cunoasterea altor culturi si mentalitati, atat pentru
- incurajarea comunicarii in limba engleza
extracurriculare, culminand cu organizarea unui eveniment special, anume o expozitie
invitati sa participe Primarul orasului nostru, domnul Sorin Manduc, autoritati
locale, directorii institutiei, domnul Ion Bogdan si domnul Remus Mogos, precum
In perioada 18-24 martie, 2013 au
avut loc in Istanbul, Turcia, SAMANDIRA TEKNIK VE ENDÜSTRI MESLEK LISESI, urmatoarele
tipuri de activitati:
- organizarea de ateliere de lucru pe teme
istorice
- prezentarile elevilor pe teme referitoare la
afinitati si deosebiri culturale ale tarilor reprezetate in proiect
- lectii de limba natala a partenerilor predate
elevilor turci
- evaluare intermediara a proiectului
- elaborarea unei prezentari Powerpoint a
intalnirii
- vizite culturale care au inclus atractiile cele
mai importante ale orasului Istanbul:
Hagia Sophia, Moscheea Albastra (Sultanahmet Camii),
Topkapi Seraglio, Grand
Bazaar, Kadikoy Centre, Biserica Cisterna (Yerebatan Sarayi),
cetate crestina, capitala a Imperiului Bizantin, si-a lasat amprenta asupra
istoriei universale.
mai numeroasa, cei noua elevi romani fiind cazati in familii gazda. Elevii
Informatiile

To prepare for the amazing experience in Sweden teachers
and students in Colegiul National “Radu Negru”, Fagaras, performed the
following activities: virtual journeys, investigations about Sweden’s past and
present, research on the Swedish customs and traditions, presentations on topography
and climate in Sweden, historical and geographical documentation and a

We also created a short play on the social cultural
integration in the Swedish society of an adolescent, whose Romanian father
becomes more and more abusive, a play with references to specific Swedish
customs and traditions
( Feast of St. Lucia and Midsummer Day ).
We organized workshops on historical discoveries,
exhibitions of drawings and paintings about Sweden
and Stockholm, we had a history lesson on the
Swedish -Romanian relations, namely the 30 year war, and then on Nicolae
Ceausescu 's visit to Sweden.

billboards and in the Comenius Corner.
All these activities were meant to promote the learning of new and useful knowledge related to Sweden and our continent, the encouraging lifelong sense of European citizenship and to promote tolerance and respect for other cultures and mentalities. We held meetings with parents and internet correspondence, discussing detailed knowledge of the excursion program.
In the resplendent capital of this Northern European country, the KPUP Comenius students and teachers gave some really interesting presentations on historical and social issues related to cultural affinities and differences between the countries represented in the project, aimed at encouraging a sense of European citizenship, tolerance and respect for other cultures and countries.
A working session was held to realise the interim
evaluation of the project by the five coordinators who concluded that exploring
ways of teaching and learning of history through workshops that prepared
students to read the map of the capital of Sweden, followed by their discovery
pedestrian trips and visits to the most important museums of the city, like the
Wassa Museum and by an audio - guided journey by boat. We were presented the Swedish
cuisine reflecting the refined tastes and culinary habits of the Swedes.
After visiting Sweden
we made an exhibition of photos, fragments of the students’ diaries, posters,
flyers, maps, articles, essays and photographs relating to activities in Stockholm, cultural
visits and everything we learned about the Swedish educational system. We also
reported this to the school council and staff and met with the parents of the
four students who visited Sweden,
who provided positive feedback. Some articles appeared in the local press and
on the school website, on the official blog on the College website there was
some radio news about it as well.

KPUP 4th Comenius Meeting, 7-13 October, Colegiul National "Radu Negru", Fagaras, Romania - One of The Most Rewarding Experiences
The Comenius Week
I can easily say that this week (7-13 October, 2013), has been one of the most rewarding experiences that we have had as students. By having contact with so many foreign visitors we have had the opportunity to improve our English, our speaking and understanding skills, as well as being able to make new friends. At the beginning of their visit we were a little shy knowing that they come from actual capital cities such as Stockholm or Vilnius, and that we might not be able to impress them in any way possible due to living in a small town such as Fagaras.
Fortunately it turned out that our guests were amazed by our cultural and historical objectives, and that they had a lot of fun by visiting them. We quickly became friends, and we started exchanging information about the living in their specific countries, such as how they go to school every week, what hobbies kids of our age have there, the most popular sports, their national personalities and so many other things.
At the end of their visit in Romania, we became so close in terms of friendship that some of us even burst into tears because of the thought that we might never see each other again.
With all this being said, the conclusion is that in this short week we learned a lot of things about their culture and their way of living, and I think they did the same concerning ours, but all this fades when thinking of what great friends we made.
